Patriots Equal Best Victory Run From Brady Years with Win Against Jets
First-year player Henderson has tallied five touchdowns in the present year
The New England Patriots equaled their best victory streak from the Brady era as they overcame division opponents the Jets by 13 points in the NFL
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three TDs as the New England squad secured an eight-game winning streak for the first time since star signal-caller Tom Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in the 2019 season
QB Drake Maye accumulated 281 yards and a score, completing 25 passes from 34 throws
Victory increases the New England's advantage at the top of the division as they moved to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets at the foot after slipping to two victories and eight defeats
The Jets had gone in front at their home field with QB Justin Fields running in a five-yard TD to finish the New York's initial series
But the New England fought back in the second quarter as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back hauled in a throw from Maye at the rear of the endzone in the middle of the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7
"That was a crucial moment for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," Maye commented on the rookie. "He desires to be excellent."
Justin Fields threw to John Metchie toward the end of the third quarter to close the gap for the Jets but Andy Borregales converted a two field goals in the final period as the Patriots sealed the win
